Lifesaving gadget

The Lifeguard30, a key-chain device that holds all your vital medical information, is the brainchild of a Portsmouth company, ViVre Medical. James Ramsey came up with the idea for it after his grandmother broke her hip during a visit to his parents' home in Norfolk and she was too shaken up to recall important medical details.

The information it can hold is more comprehensive than that stored on typical medical bracelets. The small gadget can contain 30 pages of information, including medical background, blood type, allergies, medications, an emergency contact, insurance information, along with any special notes about pets needing care. "It's designed to inform emergency personnel and doctors of your conditions when you can't," advises the company's literature.
